At the World's Edge began in 2021 from a simple belief: that chamber music has a unique capacity to connect people. Six festivals later, that belief is rooted here, in the Southern Lakes and Central Otago.

Our venues are small by design. Close enough that the room is steeped in the sound, and the bond between performer and listener is unmistakable. That closeness is the whole point, and it is also why ticket sales will never cover the cost of the work. The rest comes from people like you, who believe it should exist.

3% Cover the Fee

Chamber Music at the World's Edge Foundation is a registered charitable entity in Aotearoa New Zealand, CC57615, and a donee organisation. Donations of $5 or more are eligible for a 33.33% tax credit. A receipt will be emailed to you.

Donors in the United States can give through At the World's Edge Music Foundation (AWE USA). Donors in the United Kingdom can give through At the World's Edge UK Music Foundation (AWE UK). Each is an independent charitable entity funding AWE's activity in its own country.

Your support helps make it possible. Two new works commissioned from New Zealand composers each year, and a Composer in Residence at the heart of every festival.

It keeps AWE+ free. Performances open to everyone throughout the festival, and a week-long tour reaching around 2,000 students across Wānaka, Cromwell, Queenstown and beyond.

And it backs the next generation. Mentoring, fellowship and scholarship pathways for young musicians whose own creative paths now reach across New Zealand, Europe and North America.

Every school we visited in 2025 asked us to come back.
